The Camaro is a car that has a busy history. In fact, its historic journey is highly characterized by its top performance as well as its direct competition with the Cadillac.
The Camaro is created by General Motors. It first made its mark in 1966. It is through 6 generations of efforts and progress that this car - called the Pony car - has built a reputation. In addition, its engine power and its "look" made it through and evolve over the ages.
1st Generation - 1966-1970
When it was first released on September 26, 1966, people noticed a striking appearance similarity in terms of appearance with the previous model, the Nova. This new sedan was offered in four models: regular, RS, Z-28, and SS. It is with the Camaro SS that the car has earned the nickname of "muscle car”. Among other things, it was possible to recognize the Camaro Z28 with its 15-inch "Rally" wheels and its 5.0-liter V8 engine. It was not until 1968 that coloured side lines are featured on this wonder.
2nd Generation - 1971-1981
A good shot of freshness hit the second generation of the Camaro. It gained length and a new body. Besides, the improvements are visible at all levels: suspensions, car body, comfort, windows, visual field, etc. Despite the fact that it was right during the oil crisis, the Camaro, unlike many others, not only survived, but it launched two additional models, the RPO (Regular production options) and the Type LT (luxury model).
3rdGeneration - 1982-1992
Then, ten years later, and it was the arrival of the 3rd generation of the Camaro. With a new mechanical and aesthetic improvements, it considerably gained popularity as a "Pace car" during the Indianapolis 500, an American automotive race. The model used in the race has a powerful engine of 254 hp. In the beginning, the Camaro on the market was equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, so there is a way it could develop 167 hp. Over the years, the Camaro reached up to 300 hp, and got several improvements, such as sports suspension and the LB9 engine with manual transmission.
4th Generation - 1995-2002
This model of Camaro was designed in a free country, Canada. Over time, its engine changed considerably. For example, from the basic Camaro to the Z28, the 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine became an aluminum LS6 engine, developing 330 hp. Drivers can reach up to 100 km / h in less than 6 seconds.
5th Generation - 2009-2015
This new generation of Camaro is best known for being seen and admired by movie lovers in Transformers 1. The favourite of all, the robotic and charismatic character, Bumblebee has the honour to be the Camaro of the film. Not surprisingly, people liked to see it rolling, with its LS3 engine with 8-cylinder producing 426 hp, manual transmission. At that time, it was more powerful than ever in the movie. The Camarowas then available in 6 models: LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1. It was only in 2011 that the famous cabriolet made its appearance in Ontario. It should be emphasized that the improvements were also made at the aesthetic level; gadgets and appearance were particularly futuristic and modern.
6th Generation - 2016-today
The 6th Generation of the Camaro is a great leap forward. The entire vehicle has been designed with more resistant and lighter materials. With its engine of 4 cylinders and 455 hp, it is with power and prestige that it presents itself and turns many heads.
