Chevrolet Volt: two generations looking to the same future
December 01 2017, St-Eustache Chevrolet
Whether you like or not, everything points to the fact that gas and diesel-powered cars will gradually disappear in the near future. What should we do with this observation? Accept to look toward the future, as did the American manufacturer GM when it launched the first and second generations’ Chevrolet Volt. You’ll find these vehicles at St-Eustache Chevrolet, your Chevrolet car dealer from Saint-Eustache, near Laval.
Hybrid: the best of today and tomorrow
A lot of people misunderstand the simple concept of hybrid cars: they are vehicles powered by both a gas and one or several electrical engines, plus a battery. The electrical engines are fully utilized when you choose to rely entirely on the battery and when it weakens, a gas generator hands over the rein to the main engine. The idea is to provide the driver with a maximal ecoenergetic autonomy via an efficient electrical battery without limiting him to the still fairly low mileage allowed by this type of power source. First and second generations’ Chevrolet Volt both work this way. The autonomy of the electrical battery differs from a driver to another, but conservative estimates put the first generation’s Volt at around 80 kilometers and the newest ones at over 100 km (perhaps a lot more, if road conditions are favorable). The Chevrolet Volt is going in the good direction!
First versus second generation
Second generation’s Chevrolet Volt improve on the royal road opened by their predecessors. New Volt have obviously been redesigned and upgraded. The manufacturer kept the frontal V shape but emphasized the chromed grille and added new colors and wheel options (18 inches). It also made a lot of efforts to make the exhaust pipes as discreet as possible. The inside has been greatly simplified: starting from the hyper-technological of the first generation’s Volt, the designers decided to purify the cabin that now presents separately the informations regarding the electrical system and the gas engine in an ergonomic and intuitive manner. But second generation’s Volt are at least as technological as most modern cars when it comes to safety and entertainment features.
There are those who embrace change as soon as possible and those who try to resist it before finally being forced to accept it. Make the good choice and go at once at St-Eustache Chevrolet, your Chevrolet car dealer from Saint-Eustache, near Laval.
